Tesla has started mass deliveries of Model Ys to Australia and New Zealand.
The Paganella car carrier arrived at the Ports of Auckland, New Zealand, on July 28 and in Port Kembla, New South Wales, Australia, the next day, says ship/delivery tracker VedaPrime.
It’s Tesla’s first shipment to arrive in the third quarter, bringing hundreds of Model Ys and Model 3s
EVs and Beyond checked out the Model Y in June.
Several more ships of Tesla Model Ys and 3s are expected soon, likely to boost EV adoption rates in both countries.
The Driven.io says the Teslas on board were built in the second half of June, when Giga Shanghai production reached its highest, and that the Model Y entry in the Department of Infrastructure’s Register of Approved Vehicles (RAV) system shows these EVs are five-seaters.
In some other markets, Tesla also offers a seven-seat variant.
The new Model Y arrivals are rear-wheel drive, with the higher spec Performance all-wheel drive version expected later.
Production of Model 3s and Model Ys is being cranked up at Giga Shanghai, with assembly line upgrades already completed for the latter and Model 3 assembly line upgrades reportedly to be finished by August 7 and production restarted on August 8.
