Ford Australia and MG Motor Australia are offering end-of-year deals for EV customers as reports emerge of declining EV enthusiasm.
EV receptiveness has declined, says CarExpert, adding early one in six buyers now say they are closed to the possibility of an EV as their next vehicle compared to only one in eight last year.
Its Road to Purchase report research shows 65% of Australian respondents cite insufficient charging infrastructure as the primary barrier to EV adoption.
Range, price, and depreciation were also significant concerns, with 53% and 48% citing these issues. While 46% expressed potential future interest in EVs, 24% raised additional concerns about fire risks, environmental impact, battery life, and costs.
Meanwhile, Ford Australia has an end-of-year offer on the Mustang Mach-E, combined with the launch of new charging experience Autocharge, powered by Evie Networks.
This powerful duo eliminates charging doubts during the buying process, along with hassle during the ownership experience, and puts ease of use at the forefront of EV ownership, says Ford Australia.
“Until the end of the year, eligible Mustang Mach-E purchasers can enjoy a comprehensive package designed to enhance their electric journey,” says the company.
These include six months complimentary Ford Insure when taking out a year’s policy and meeting eligibility criteria, a $500 Evie Networks DC public charging voucher, and the first three general services included in the Mach-E package.
Autocharge’s Plug In and Go provides access for Ford Mustang Mach-E customers to Evie Networks’ more than 270 fast EV charging locations around Australia.
“Evie Autocharge simplifies public charging by automatically initiating a charging session as soon as you plug your Mustang Mach-E into a compatible Evie charger,” says Ford Australia.
“Ford and Evie are working together to make life easier for our EV customers,” says Ford Australia electric vehicles general manager Myles Hartley.

MG Motor Australia confirms pricing offers on its MG4 models until December 31, 2024, with the Excite 51kWh $32,990 drive away (DA) and the Excite 64kWh priced from $34,990 DA, saving up to about $8000, including Xpower variants.
“MG saw an incredible response to the pricing offers on the MG4 in October,” says MG Motor Australia chief commercial officer Giles Belcher.
“Our dealerships across the country were able to help Australians switch to EV driving with the MG4.
“Across the MG4 range, buyers can own a fantastic car, backed by our industry leading 10-year warranty and a five-star ANCAP safety rating.”
Belcher says about 100 dealers across Australia will help customers have an amazing
Christmas present of unwrapping a bow on their new MG4.
“For those Australians who have solar panels, they can make the most of summer and charge their car at home from the sun’s rays,” he says.
“Charging costs can be minimal as a result and you’ll love getting around to catch up with friends and family this holiday season.”
MG also offers a capped-price service program.
Through the Precise Price Servicing program, owners will have pricing locked in for the first seven years of maintenance through authorised dealers.
MG Motor Australia has also revised its price on the compact electric SUV the ZS EV, offering $36,990 on the ZS EV Essence and $42,990 on the ZS EV Long Range until December 31, 2024.
