Pricing, model line-up and indicative specification have been announced for Subaru’s first all-electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) for Australia.

The Solterra AWD is priced from $77,990, and the Solterra AWD Touring from $83,690, the EVs due in Australia “this year” with December likely as that’s when first production models are also expected to arrive in New Zealand.

Dual electric motors provide a combined 160kW power and 337Nm torque, both models featuring symmetrical all-wheel drive, the new e-Subaru global platform, dual mode x-mode, 210mm ground clearance, Subaru Safety Sense and Vision Assist as standard.

After extending an exclusive pre-order invitation to customers that registered their interest, the order books will open to all Australian consumers from November 8, customers also able to contact their local Subaru retailer.

“We are delighted to extend the opportunity to all Australian motorists to reserve their order in the first allocation of our first all-electric Subaru SUV,” says Subaru Australia managing director Blair Read.

The manufacturer’s list price (MLP) includes a five-year service plan, five-year roadside assistance, carpet mats, cargo tray and a 2kW AC charging cable with 8amp wall plug, eight-year/160,000km battery warranty,

The 71.4kW lithium-ion battery provides 414km range.

Charging from 20% to 80% via a 150kW DC charger takes about 30 minutes, whereas via a single phase 7kW AC charger it takes around seven to eight hours.

The electric Solterra combines state-of-the-art technology, aerodynamic futuristic design, and Subaru’s reliability and handling dynamics for driver confidence, safety and peace of mind.

It marks the debut of a Subaru battery electric vehicle (BEV) in Australia while representing the beginning of increased diversification in the Subaru model line-up that will include additional hybrid and BEV models in future.

Subaru Australia says final Australian specification will be confirmed before the end of the year.

Infotainment includes a 12.3-inch high-definition central touchscreen, seven-inch digital instrumentation, a powered driver seat with electric lumbar support, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, 18-inch alloy wheel (20-inch for the Touring), a plethora of safety and driver assistance features, a powered tailgate, LED headlights and fog lights, a digital rear-view mirror, and a panoramic glass roof (Touring).

Charging bundles are available for purchase via the authorised Subaru retail network and when buying online at subaru.com.au.
