After serving as MG Motor Australia’s business director for more than six years, Harrie Yan became the new chief operating officer of MG Motor New Zealand Limited effective July 18, 2024.
He replaced former country manager Arek Zywot, who resigned from the business to pursue other opportunities.
Yan says he looks forward to the new challenge of leading MG Motor in New Zealand while working collaboratively with 19 MG dealers nationwide.
He has more than 15 years of automotive experience having previously worked in sales marketing and business development for two years for SAIC Motor in Shanghai and nearly six years for Volkswagen China.
MG Motor has appointed four country managers to run the New Zealand business since September 2018.
Anthony MacLean was the first appointee to re-establish the marque and the dealer network in two and a half years, followed by Rachel Johnson, who resigned after six months for personal reasons.
Former Australian MG Motor senior leader Patrick Bourke, who now works for Ram Trucks, held the reins for a year before Zywot was appointed in June 2023.
