A new 2024 Road Glide motorcycle has been won by Shane Childs of Sydney in a global Harley-Davidson competition called “Battle at the Bricks”.
Harley-Davidson ANZ says the Harley-Davidson competition at its global headquarters in Milwaukee, US, looks for the best in class at presenting the new Harley-Davidson Street Glide and Road Glide motorcycles.
“Contestants from across the globe competed to win a 2024 Road Glide motorcycle showcasing their extensive knowledge and gift of the gab.
“Battle at the Bricks is Harley-Davidson University’s (HDU) global in-dealership walkaround competition inviting dealer associates across the globe to demonstrate their expertise when it comes to presenting and selling the 2024 Street Glide and Road Glide models.”
Harley-Davidson ANZ says the qualifying round invited participants to participate in a customer simulation challenge, demonstrating their on-the-job expertise.
“The preliminary round followed, where contestants submitted a five-minute video, describing key features of interest. Finally, the top contestants were tested with a timed product knowledge assessment.
“After three rounds of a knockout competition at a regional level, the top submissions were selected to represent Asia Pacific at a global level in the grand final against representatives from the US, Canada and EMEA.”
The chosen two representatives from Asia Pacific were Shane Childs and Joshua Matthews, both of Australia.
Tasmanian Matthews has worked at Richardson’s Harley-Davidson for the past four years, joining the company when offered a traineeship in automotive sales and parts before completing his qualification. Matthews is described as a “passionate motorcycle enthusiast”.
Childs has worked at Harley-Heaven Sydney for the past two years.
With 15 years of experience in the automotive sales industry, Childs takes pride in fostering the customer experience culture in his local area, says Harley-Davidson ANZ.
“Battle at the Bricks is a great way to experience the sheer talent and knowledge across our global network,” says Harley-Davidson ANZ managing director Nigel Keough.
“It’s fantastic to have two Aussie’s represent the region at this high standard global competition. This demonstrates the level of skills, expertise and passion we have here locally within our market.”
Dealer of the Year and Master Tech of the Year are among other ways the global Harley-Davidson dealer network can be acknowledged and celebrated, says Keough.
