Morrison resigns after caravan-towing Tesla parks outside his office

Former prime minister Scott Morrison once said in an election campaign that EVs won’t tow a trailer or boat or get the family to a favourite camping spot, and in 2019 accused his Labour opponent of trying to “end the weekend” by promoting EVs, later denying he was attacking EVs.

Morrison resigned from Australia’s parliament three days after a Tesla Model 3 towing a caravan around Australia parked out front of Morrison’s Cronulla electorate office in Sydney, The Driven reports.

It doesn’t believe the two events are related but says it’s a “bit of fun”, noting EV enthusiast Rob Dean had reposted a picture of the Tesla in front of Morrison’s electoral office, parked in an EVs only area.

The Driven says the Tesla is being driven by “Atto Girl” and a partner, who wrote on their Facebook page: “We couldn’t leave Sydney without attempting to say hello to Scotty Morrison and showing him our car, van and sharing our travel stories at his electoral office in Cronulla. Sadly, despite parking 🅿️ outside and leaving a voicemail 📞 he was still off on holidays, probably in Hawaii 😂.”
