It’s no secret that over the past decade the automotive industry has undergone a complete transformation.

This change has had a significant impact on the evolving retail space, with an increase in digital solutions for the sector due to consumers preferring to access information online.

Overwhelmingly consumers are finding information online and looking to a diverse range of sources in the car buying process.

Dealers in the retail space are increasingly taking advantage of digital trends such as the rise of video content to communicate with consumers.

However, in wholesale, the uptake of these digital trends has been slower with few digital solutions to aid with the issues dealerships have been facing.

Dealerships are still navigating the issue of having surplus inventory with inefficient channels to sell.

Without digital connectivity, there’s a limit to the stock and network that dealers can access, restricting their ability to move wholesale stock in a challenging marketplace.

That is until the introduction of CarZapp in 2018.

CarZapp is Australia’s leading dealer-to-dealer trading platform which gives users the opportunity to connect with and build a network of dealers nationwide.

With access to more stock, users can quickly and efficiently buy and sell vehicles at wholesale prices, and manage inventory.

Having launched an updated version in 2019, including a new web version and app, CarZapp is now enabling over 600 dealers to more efficiently buy and sell stock.

The mobile app allows users to buy and sell from anywhere giving dealers more flexibility when moving stock.

Not only do digital wholesale tools assist with efficiency, they also support dealerships looking to improve their reporting, make it easier during audits and giving users a holistic view of their business.

All offers and purchases are recorded in CarZapp, allowing users to quickly and easily access all their history.

In a competitive industry, dealers are increasingly in need of transparency.

Through our tender function, CarZapp gives our users the opportunity to price cars, with only the highest offer being visible to the seller at the close of the tender.

This allows for a fair transaction to take place, and a marketplace where all users have equal opportunity to purchase a car.

With increasing competition and the evolution of the industry, it will only become harder to sell vehicles at wholesale prices.

This means it’s more important than ever to leverage a large network of dealers – with digital wholesale tools you have the ability to connect with dealers outside your network and across Australia, giving you access to cars that you haven’t had the opportunity to buy before, and buyers you haven’t had the opportunity to sell to.

Leading the way in joining the digital dealership revolution are rental franchisees with Avis Budget Group and Thrifty both running successful pilots on CarZapp, resulting in Thrifty contracting nationally.

Thrifty now have nationwide monthly tenders on CarZapp, as they’ve proven it’s an efficient way to move their surplus stock.

Following the launch of their new app and desktop version in 2019, CarZapp has over 600 users nationally on CarZapp with 30% of these users regularly logging in and buying and selling stock from organisations they wouldn’t have otherwise had access to.

Users are seeing higher clearance rates, with over 700 cars sold on CarZapp to date, making it a highly effective channel for removing surplus stock.

For dealerships that are looking to disrupt the traditional model and move more stock, more efficiently, embracing digital platforms isn’t just an optional extra, its fundamental in growing your dealership in a changing landscape.

As with all industries, it will become imperative for dealerships to evolve and update with technology to keep up with an increasingly evolving industry.

Dealers across Australia can buy and sell stock to an untapped network using CarZapp, by simply signing up.
