The new MY25 seven-seat LDV D90 has received the most significant makeover since the model first appeared for sale in dealerships in 2018.

Stocks of the newly refreshed D90 are beginning to arrive in dealerships now, in time for the summer holiday season.

There are three models in the new streamlined range, all of which are equipped with a new and more powerful turbocharged petrol engine – and an eight-speed automatic transmission, compared to the previous six-speed automatic.

Braked towing capacity has increased from 2000kg from the previous turbo petrol model to 3000kg with the new turbo petrol model – in both two-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.

The MY25 LDV D90 petrol range is as follows, priced from:

  • MY25 Mode 2WD $43,147 drive-away (retail), $40,990 drive-away (ABN holders)
  • MY25 Executive 2WD $47,358 drive-away (retail), $44,990 drive-away (ABN holders)
  • MY25 Executive 4WD $51,042 drive-away (retail), $48,490 drive-away (ABN holders)

The MY25 LDV D90 features new styling inside and out, a refreshed interior with dual 12.3-inch widescreen displays for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, and new safety technology.

“We are pleased to finally bring this important model update to Australian customers in time for the summer holiday season,” LDV Australia general manager Dinesh Chinnappa says.

“Australians have a strong sense of adventure and a keen eye for value, and we believe the new LDV D90 ticks both boxes,” he says.

While a diesel version of the MY25 LDV D90 is under evaluation for Australia; the previous diesel LDV D90 is available for purchase in limited supply.

Redesign

The new body panels extend from the front doors forward, and there are fender flares, a new front fascia, and a new rear fascia. The car has a slightly wider and taller stance thanks to the new wheel and tyre package.

The new front fascia has a more rugged appearance and houses new ‘vertically stacked’ bi-LED headlights, which deliver an impressive beam of light on dark country roads.

To give buyers on a budget a taste of luxury, an entirely new dashboard inside the cabin features a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch widescreen instrument display across all models.

There are new cabin control switches on the centre console and the dashboard.

Power and performance

The MY25 LDV D90 is powered by a new turbocharged 2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, part of the company’s Blue Core series.

It incorporates several advanced technologies, including:

  • Miller Cycle Technology: By delaying the intake valve closing time, it is designed to improve combustion efficiency and reduce fuel consumption;
  • Variable Valve Lift: Allows adjustment of the valve lift, balancing low-speed torque and high-speed power;
  • High-Pressure Direct Injection: Enhances fuel atomisation for improved combustion efficiency;
  • Balance Shaft Module: Reduces engine vibration.

The new engine outputs 184kW/410Nm compared to the previous turbo petrol model’s 160kW/350Nm rating.

Peak torque is delivered between 2500rpm and 3500rpm for smooth yet responsive acceleration.

An automatic eight-speed torque converter transmission replaces the previous six-speed torque converter automatically.

The four-wheel-drive variant retains “shift on the fly” functionality when shifting between two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive.

Two-wheel-drive models deliver power to the rear wheels. There are three driving modes: Normal, Sport and Eco.

According to fuel rating label data based on laboratory tests, combined cycle fuel consumption has reduced from 10.2L/100km on the previous two-wheel-drive petrol LDV D90 to 9.1L/100km on MY25 LDV D90 two-wheel-drive petrol models—a reduction of 10.8%.

The combined cycle fuel consumption rating label figure for the petrol four-wheel-drive variant has been reduced from 10.9L/100km on the previous model to 9.4L/100km on the MY25 LDV D90 four-wheel-drive petrol model, a reduction of 13.8%.

The petrol tank capacity is 75 litres.

The MY25 LDV D90 has one of the largest cargo areas in the seven-seat SUV segment:

Cargo floor length (third-row seats in position): 412mm

Cargo floor length (third-row seats stowed): 1140mm

Cargo floor length (second and third-row seats stowed): 1800mm

Cargo floor width between wheel arches: 1248mm

Tailgate opening (height): 1889mm

Tailgate opening (width): 1268mm
