GMSV has released new information for the Model Year 2024 C8 Corvette, including more details on the Z06.

Australia MY24 C8 Corvette Stingray pricing (which includes GST and Luxury Car Tax [LCT] and excludes dealer delivery and on-road costs [ORC]) is $175,000 for the 2LT Coupe, $190,000 for the 2LT Convertible and 3LT Coupe, and $205,000 for the 3LT Convertible.

The Z06 3LZ Coupe Australia recommended retail price (RRP) is $336,000 (including GST and LCT, excluding dealer deliver and ORC).

“We’re thrilled to announce a series of updates to the upcoming MY24 C8 Corvette, additions which will make an already phenomenal performance vehicle all the more outstanding,” says GMSV director Greg Rowe.

“Included in this exciting news is more information about the sensational new Z06, a rear-wheel drive, mid-engine Supercar manufactured right-hand drive and featuring an exquisite power plant, hand assembled by a master engine builder at the home of Corvette, the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky.”

The new MY24 C8 Corvette will be available with a number of enhancements which add to its safety credentials as well as the visual appeal of the popular two-seat sports car.

New safety features include forward collision alert with low-speed automatic emergency braking (AEB), lane keep assist with lane departure warning, following distance indicator, front pedestrian braking and Intellibeam auto high beam assist.

A new Z51 spoiler design is on the rear.

Two new five-split spoke wheel options will be available, along with three new exterior colours, including Cacti Green, Riptide Blue and Sea Wolf Gray, with Carbon Flash now a regular colour on all models.

New driver model selector animations are on the large, driver-oriented information screen.

A new engine appearance package is available with the Convertible and a lighting option is reinstated for the 2LT, while a lighting option and carbon fibre close out panels are available on the 3LT.

Additional visual cues include a wider, full length “Carbon Flash” stripe design with five new colour options.

Rounding out the updates is a new ‘frunk’ (front trunk) power soft close latch.

Customer deliveries start in Q4 and, as part of model year changes, the recommended retail price (RRP) will increase $5000 across the range.

The first MY24 Corvette Z06 are expected in GMSV showrooms in Australia and New Zealand late this year.

Customers can contact their local dealer to be added to waitlists.

The Corvette Z06 features a naturally aspirated LT6 5.5L DOHC V8 engine with an all-new flat-plane crankshaft design which allows the engine to rev to 8600rpm.

It is capable of producing 475kW power and 595Nm torque and, when combined with the Z07 Performance Package, is capable of 1.22g of road-hugging grip in track prepared configuration.

Large 14.6-inch-diameter (370mm) front and 15-inch diameter (380mm) rear Brembo rotors help with braking power.  The Z06 has six-piston front callipers compared to four-piston callipers on the Stingray.

A shorter 5.56 final drive ratio is a characteristic of the Z06, and power is delivered to the ground via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Z06-specific suspension tuning is a standard feature, complemented by Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 (FE6).

The largest wheels available on a production Corvette, 20-inch forged aluminium ‘Spider’ wheels at the front and 21-inch at the rear, provide good grip.

All Z06 models available via the GMSV network will come specified with the 3LZ trim, coupe as standard.

An optional Z07 Performance Pack is also available.

“Due to incredible global demand, the Corvette Z06 is a measured volume proposition, in keeping with its exclusive nature, availability will be very controlled,” says Rowe.

“We appreciate this may disappoint many performance enthusiasts, but at the same time it will ensure those who do become a Z06 owner will know they possess a very special piece of automotive folklore.”

GMSV has previously confirmed that Australia and New Zealand will be part of the upcoming Corvette E-Ray programme.

The first electrified Corvette features an e-AWD system that works in tandem with its LT2 V8 engine.

The E-Ray has a host of functional design elements, adding to its aerodynamic and performance benefits.

More information about the Corvette E-Ray will be available in 2024.
