Following its acquisition of MyTradeStart in September 2023, the Motor Traders Association of NSW (MTA NSW) has opened a newly refurbished training facility designed to equip hundreds of Sydney students.

Located in Auburn, Sydney, MyTradeStart is a dedicated hub for automotive training, complementing MTA NSW’s existing on-site training model.

The refurbishment of MyTradeStart includes spaces that emulate the workshop environment, ensuring students can transition from training to the workplace.

Reflecting the rapidly changing demands of the automotive sector, MTA NSW will also offer its electric vehicle (EV) training in a new dedicated EV training hub, ensuring apprentices gain the necessary future-focused skills.

MTA NSW has implemented its training standards across all courses, offering apprentices the opportunity to learn from expert trainers who bring industry-leading knowledge and passion into the training experience.

The association’s chief executive, Stavros Yallouridis, says the refurbished MyTradeStart facility complements the onsite training model.

“We can tailor our training even further to meet the individual needs of each student, whether through hands-on, onsite experience or in a classroom setting,” he says.

MyTradeStart offers six accredited courses, including certificates in automotive refinishing technology, automotive body repair technology, heavy commercial vehicle mechanical technology, light vehicle mechanical technology, automotive electrical technology, and automotive air conditioning technology.

The registered training organisation is focused on meeting the diverse needs of apprentices, employers, and the wider automotive industry. It focuses on practical, career-focused learning that can be immediately applied in the workplace.

With smaller class sizes, students also benefit from personalised mentorship and one-on-one time with trainers, fostering a collaborative learning environment to build valuable connections with their peers and industry leaders.

Financial support options are also available, making high-quality training more accessible to aspiring automotive professionals.
