Subaru Australia says the brand’s first battery electric vehicle (BEV), the Subaru Solterra, has achieved a five-star Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) safety rating.

“At Subaru, safety is ingrained in our DNA; it always has been and always will be at the heart of everything that we do,” says Subaru Australia managing director Blair Read.

“As with all Subaru models, the Solterra features a host of primary, active, preventative and protective safety features that help keep the driver and occupants safe on the road.”

Subaru Corporation is working towards zero fatal road accidents in a Subaru vehicle by 2030.

The Solterra is equipped with Subaru Safety Sense, a preventative safety system providing pre-collision system, emergency steering assist, emergency driving stop system, lane departure alert, dynamic radar cruise control, lane tracing assist, low-speed acceleration suppression, road sign assist and speed limiter.

Both Solterra variants are also equipped with the driver monitoring system and vision assist which includes adaptive high-beam system, blind spot monitor, front parking sensors, parking support brake, rear cross traffic alert, rear parking sensors, safe exit assist and panoramic 360-degree view monitor.

Solterra AWD Touring exclusively features advanced park assist.

Subaru Australia announced price changes for the Solterra BEV on February 22, saying it will launch in the Australian market at a manufacturer’s list price (MLP) of $69,990 (an $8000 reduction) for the Solterra AWD and $76,990 (a nearly $7000 drop) for the Solterra AWD Touring.

The price for both variants includes as standard a complimentary five-year service plan, five-year roadside assistance, carpet mat set, cargo tray and a 2kW (eight-Amp) AC charging cable with 10Amp wall plug for charging.

The readjusted pricing applies to all existing pre-orders, with no further action required from customers as their Subaru Retailer will communicate with them directly on their individual vehicle order, says Subaru Australia, adding customer deliveries are due to start shortly and that demonstration vehicles have landed in participating Subaru Retailers.

“To book a test drive, customers are encouraged to visit www.subaru.com.au/book-test-drive or contact a participating Subaru Retailer.”

AutoTalk Australia included the original pricing on February 1 this year.
