Subaru Australia says the first shipment of its all-new, all-electric Subaru Solterra SUV has arrived with demonstrator vehicles being shipped to authorised dealers around the country.

The Solterra, Subaru’s first battery electric vehicle (BEV), is available in two variants, AWD and AWD Touring, priced from $77,990 and $83,690 respectively.

Both variants will come standard with a five-year service plan, five-year roadside assistance, carpet mat set, cargo tray and a 2kW (8 Amp) AC charging cable with Ten Amp wall plug for charging.

Powered by a high voltage 71.4kW lithium-ion battery, the Solterra delivers a maximum power output of 160kW and 337Nm of torque. Per Australian Design Rules (ADR81/02), which states that vehicles imported into Australia should be homologated with an NEDC claimed range figure, Solterra has an NEDC test range of 485km.

Charging the Solterra is simple with both AC and DC charging capability. Charging from 0-to-80 per cent via a 150kW DC charger takes approximately 30 minutes, whereas via a single-phase 7kW AC charger 0-to-100% takes approximately nine and a half hours and 0-to-100% charge via a 11kW three-phase takes approximately six and a half hours.

Solterra owners can explore a variety of road surfaces, thanks to its 212mm of ground clearance and Dual Mode X-Mode that works with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) to provide exceptional grip and control. This driver-activated feature is designed to be used when road conditions become particularly treacherous or challenging, such as in slippery or icy weather, on steep hills, or in muddy terrain. The Solterra also includes a new Grip Control function.

A central 12.3-inch high-definition touchscreen coupled with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and a high-quality six-speaker or ten- speaker Harman Kardon sound system (exclusive to AWD Touring) makes entertainment and connectivity on road trips simple.

Exclusive to Solterra AWD Touring is a panoramic glass sunroof which offers a broader view of the sky and surroundings along with extra natural light in the cabin.

“The Solterra delivers Subaru’s trusted reliability, diverse-terrain capability, safety, and engaging driving dynamics in Subaru’s first all-electric SUV,” Subaru Australia managing director Blair Read says.

“The linear output of the dual electric motors combined with Subaru’s legendary Symmetrical All Wheel Drive, means drivers have outstanding control and capability on all kinds of roads and conditions. The Solterra delivers the renowned driving feeling and confidence that Subaru owners demand,” he says.

To support customers with their ownership journey of an all-electric Subaru, the following charging bundles are available for purchase via the Authorised Subaru Retail Network or via Subaru.com.au when making an online purchase.

  • Bundle 1: Ocular LTE Plus Wall box Single Phase (7kW) Tethered Type 2 with 6 metre cable – $2,250 RRP (inc. GST and standard installation).
  • Bundle 2: Ocular LTE Plus Wall box Three-Phase (22kW) Tethered Type 2 6M cable – $2,645 RRP (inc. GST and standard installation).

The Subaru New Vehicle Warranty period on high-voltage batteries for Subaru Electric vehicles is 8 years/160,000 kilometres, whichever comes first. After this warranty period, any required battery replacement will be a chargeable item.
