
According to the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries, 65,399 Motorcycles and Off-Highway Vehicles (OHVs) were sold from January to September 2024, representing a 4.9% decrease compared to 2023.
The largest segment, off-road motorcycles, represented 40.6% of sales, with 26,521 units sold, a decrease of 2.5% from 2023.
Road Motorcycles made up 25,127 units sold YTD, representing 38.4% of overall sales, down 3.2% from last year.
OHVs contributed 10,272 units sold YTD, representing 15.7% of sales for the period, a decrease of 8.1% compared with 2023.
Scooters contributed 3,479 units sold YTD, representing 5.3% of sales for the period, down 21.2% compared with 2023.

Yamaha remains the number one-selling brand, followed by Honda, Kawasaki and KTM.
FCAI chief executive Tony Weber says the motorcycle industry in Australia had experienced a sustained period of challenges.
“Across the economy, we are seeing cost-of-living pressures impacting consumers, which is reflected in motorcycle and OHV sales,” Weber says.
“We remain optimistic that as the economy improves, we will see a resurgence in demand,” he says.
