Three-month registration terms for motor vehicle dealers will be introduced by the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
So says the Motor Trades Association of Queensland (MTA Queensland) which applauds the decision after several years of advocacy and a parliamentary e-petition in 2020.
MTA Queensland says the announcement is a major win for its motor dealer members.
The new terms are expected to bring substantial advantages to motor dealers, offering greater flexibility and alleviating financial strain for small businesses, linked to extended registration periods, says MTA Queensland chief executive Rod Camm.
“This has been a long-standing issue for our members, and we are pleased to see the department acting on our advice,” he says.
“By offering a shorter registration term, dealers can better align their expenses with their sales cycles, potentially leading to increased profitability and sustainability within the industry.
“MTA Queensland remains committed to working closely with government bodies and industry stakeholders to advocate for continued improvements and innovations that promote a thriving automotive sector in Queensland.”
