
The 2023 Auto Women Scholarships’ second round recipients have been announced by the Motor Trades Association of Queensland (MTA Queensland).
Laura Luckie from Pat’s Pro Resto’s & Refinishing in Beaudesert has been awarded the Leading Edge Scholarship valued at $3490, and Leah Davis from Cricks Tweed has been awarded the Executive Ready Scholarship valued at $8490.
The scholarships, sponsored by MTA Queensland, Spirit Super, and Women & Leadership Australia, aim to support the career advancement of women working across the automotive industry through two, fully funded, high-impact training programs.
Leading Edge is designed to assist females in early-career positions transition into confident, capable, and motivated leaders.
Luckie is a fourth-year apprentice refinisher (spray painter) who made the move after many years in the automotive industry in an accounts/payroll position.
With a passion for cars and a desire to get hands-on, she signed up for her apprenticeship in 2021 working on a variety of high-end vehicles, including hot rods, street machines, and classics, doing full restorations to custom builds and everything in between.
Executive Ready aims to stretch mid-level leaders and propel them towards executive-level positions, bolstering skills and mindsets.
Davis is financial controller at Cricks Tweed, entering the automotive industry as a trainee salesperson aged18.
After gaining experience across a range of different roles, she became administration manager of her own Von Bibra branch.
Following a decade with the company, Davis joined the team at Cricks Tweed where she is a valued member of its leadership team, overseeing accounting activities in the organisation, including providing accurate and timely information to guide decision making.
She aims to be a dealer principal and says the scholarship will help her get where she needs to be.
The next scholarship round opens March 1, 2024.
