Roev plans to make electric utes and restore automotive manufacturing in Australia.
“The Roev movement begins with electric utes that are energy smart and as tough as the Australian spirit. Through our unique vehicle-to-grid exchange, a Roev EV Ute will power your tools, your workplace, your home, and your community,” its website says.
It also intends converting Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger models to battery electric.

Roev has been co-founded by Noah Wasmer – its chief executive, and chief technology officer Paul Slade, who have both been involved with Australian software company Atlassian.
Wasmer had also worked with Apple and built his first car at 15 – his parents and grandparents coming from the Detroit automotive industry.
Roev’s strategy head is EV expert Lynnard (Lenny) Cucksey.
The company is working with various businesses and governments about large-scale EV conversions that could help ‘green’ fleets before manufacturers make the switch to electric utes.
It intends offering the Hilux EV with a 100kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery, in two- and four-wheel drive, plus adapt its EVs to include the newest software.
Slade reckons Australia could be powered with the renewable energy stored in EVs.
Roev says it aims to sustainably remove millions of tonnes of CO2 emissions by accelerating transport electrification and renewable energy uptake, increasing EV availability as the fastest way to help mitigate climate change.
