Windscreen company expands with bus glass purchase

National Windscreens has announced the full acquisition of Melbourne-based Alpha Bus Glass.

This marks its third acquisition in six months, following closely on the heels of their recent purchase of Top End Windscreens & Tinting in Darwin, just a month ago. The acquisition spree began with the purchase of Phoenix Glass in Brisbane late last year.

“This is only the beginning,” says group chief executive Campbell Jones. “We said back in March that with Nash Capital becoming a majority shareholder, it would bring significant investment in our people, facilities, equipment, and the expansion of our network through company-owned branches. The announcement of these two acquisitions is a testament to the investments we are making and the speed at which we want to move.”

Alpha Bus Glass, Melbourne’s leading independent glass replacement and repair service for the bus, coach, and truck industry, was established over 21 years ago by Darrell Clark.

“This acquisition complements our acquisition of Phoenix Glass in Sumner, Brisbane, which is the largest bus and coach glass supplier in Queensland and the exclusive glass supplier to Brisbane City Council, one of the largest bus fleet operators in the country,” Jones adds. “With Alpha Bus Glass, we are now showing our intentions to capture a far bigger slice of the on-highway market, a space we have not been in previously. It is our intention at National Windscreens to grow our business in this vertical significantly, especially on the Eastern Seaboard. With operations in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Darwin, we feel that a significant market share in this important market segment is achievable.”

The ownership of Alpha Bus Glass is effective immediately, and according to Jones, it will be business as usual with a number of short-term enhancements planned. “We are genuinely excited about this acquisition. Alpha Bus Glass will be led by John and Craig Perrie, who have over 50 years of experience in bus and coach glass collectively, originally with their father who started Phoenix Glass in Brisbane. Previous owner Darrell and his team have built a great business, and we’re ecstatic they are supportive of our vision. The Alpha Bus Glass name will remain, and we will be adding a range of new vehicle technology capabilities in ADAS and diagnostic services in the near future. We are excited to welcome the Alpha team to our quickly growing family!”
