Infrastructure and Transport Minister Darren Chester is on the road in a different format this Sunday.
Wearing running shoes, he’ll hit the streets of Bairnsdale to help raise money for breast cancer research.
Chester will be competing in the 10km Mother’s Day Classic 2017, which begins at Howitt Park at 10am.
“I haven’t had much time to train for this year’s event as it’s been hard to get away from my desk at budget time,” Chester says. But he’s determined to support such a good cause.
“Mother’s Day is a day when we say a special ‘thank-you’ to our mums for everything they do and we remember those wonderful ladies who aren’t with us today.
“I’ll be running to show my support for those who have been touched by breast cancer, their families, their friends and those they left behind.”
This is the tenth year of the Mother’s Day Classic, which is organised by the Apex Club of Bairnsdale. The classic includes a 5.6 kilometre walk. There’ll also be entertainment along the way.
Registrations will be taken from 8.30am on the day.
