All-new Subaru WRX sedan and WRX Sportswagon will arrive on Australian shores in Q2, 2022.

Subaru has announced a wagon variant will join the next generation all-wheel-drive Subaru WRX line-up arriving Australia in the second quarter of 2022.

It will be known in the Australian market as the WRX Sportswagon and it will offer the same turbocharged 202kW 2.4-litre boxer engine and 8-speed Lineartronic transmission as the WRX sedan.

The new WRX Sportswagon is solely destined for Authorised Subaru Centres in Australia and New Zealand and it will not be seen anywhere else in the world according to the manufacturer.

A wolf in sheep’s clothing, the WRX Sportswagon cleverly combines the legendary turbocharged performance of the sedan with a touch of sophistication and an abundance of practicality says Subaru Corporation.

“The WRX is a true rally-bred vehicle that has earned an iconic status over the decades, and the all-new model promises to deliver a thrilling experience to drivers,” Subaru Australia general manager Blair Read says.

“The WRX Sportswagon offers Australians an additional version of this performance machine with enhanced practicality for everyday use.

“It will be a model in its own right, with both the sedan and Sportswagon featuring unique specification tailored to their respective audiences.

“We’re confident the all-new WRX and WRX Sportswagon will continue to build upon the performance model’s rich heritage as it ushers in a new era of style, technology, razor sharp handling and exhilaration,” he says.
