The Skoda Elroq built on the Volkswagen Group’s modular electrification toolkit (MEB) will come with four powertrain variants- the Elroq 50, 60, 85 and 85x.
These models vary in battery capacity and corresponding power output, ranging from 125kW to 220kW.
Skoda Australia is aiming for H2 2025 for Skoda Elroq sales.
“Elroq is the first of Skoda’s new design BEV,” says product head Kieran Merrigan.
“It’s a must-have.”
The introduction of the Skoda Elroq, due for its world premiere later this year, marks the start of Skoda’s new BEV campaign, which will see the launch of six battery electric models in coming years.
The entry-level Elroq 50 features rear-wheel drive with a 55kWh gross battery capacity and an electric motor on the rear axle developing 125kW.
The Elroq 60 has a 63kWh battery and a 150kW electric motor. Both of these models achieve a 160km/h top speed.
The Elroq 85 and Elroq 85x variants have an 82kWh battery (gross).
The rear-wheel-drive Elroq 85 has 210kW peak output, while the Elroq 85x includes an additional electric motor on the front axle, offering all-wheel drive as standard and 220kW. Both versions reach a 180km/h top speed and deliver more than 560km range, says Skoda.
The 85 and 85x offer DC charging of up to 175kW, and all four powertrain versions can be charged from 10% to 80% in under 28 minutes.
Using Skoda Charger wallboxes of up to 11kW will provide a full battery after 5.5 to eight hours.
The new SUV is the first Skoda model to adopt the brand’s new “modern solid” design language.
It includes 470 litres to 1580 litres of luggage capacity along with compact exterior dimensions and clever storage options, says Skoda.
“The Elroq is ideal for urban and suburban driving.”
