Reflecting the importance of the Middle Eastern markets, Nissan Motor Company chief executive Makoto Uchida unveiled the all-new 7th generation Patrol at an exclusive event in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
Guests included royal family members, VIPs, global Nissan executives, dealers, partners, media, customers and employees.
The latest Patrol iteration introduces a new design, a V6 twin-turbo engine, a 9-speed automatic transmission, and adaptive air suspension. It offers NissanConnect 2.0 with Google built-in, ProPILOT, and a Klipsch Premium Audio System.
“The all-new Patrol is a prime example of the exciting and empowering models we are delivering under our global business plan, The Arc,” Uchida says.
“The seventh generation is a bold leap forward, blending unparalleled performance, cutting-edge technology and a commanding presence to redefine what an SUV can be.
Nissan’s V-motion grille takes centre stage on the new Patrol. It is now broader and more integrated into the body and flanked by enhanced Double C-shaped headlights featuring Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) technology to ensure optimal visibility. Complementing this is the Patrol’s rear façade, which echoes the front grille with a full-width light bar.
The Patrol’s stance is accentuated by 22-inch alloy wheels, which provide high ground clearance for off-road performance.
Seven exterior colours are available, each developed to enhance its dynamic appearance. Four two-tone options add increased personalisation to the exterior colour palette.
The new Patrol’s puddle lamp shows Nissan’s commitment to thoughtful design.
The lamp illuminates a unique motif featuring the Patrol silhouette in the desert and the text “Since 1951.” This feature is a nod to the Japanese principle of omotenashi, or thoughtful hospitality, which ensures that every interaction with the Patrol feels special.
New powertrain technology
The seventh-generation Patrol is Nissan’s most powerful yet, with two new engine options.
A new 3.5-litre V6 twin-turbo engine delivers 425HP and 700Nm of torque. This marks a shift from the Patrol’s outgoing V8 engine – achieving a 7% increase in power and a 25% boost in torque, while enhancing fuel efficiency by 24%.
A 3.8-litre naturally aspirated V6 engine option produces 316HP and 386Nm of torque.
The new V6 twin-turbo motor is engineered with several enhancements, including improved throttle response for quicker acceleration, high combustion efficiency to maximise power output, and mirror bore coating to enhance thermal efficiency.
A high heat-resistant turbocharger maintains peak performance under demanding conditions, while the scavenger oil pump ensures consistent lubrication on slopes and inclines, delivering reliable performance across all terrains.
According to Nissan, integrating a new 9-speed automatic transmission further elevates the driving experience. The transmission and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters ensure seamless acceleration and effortless gear changes for a consistently smooth and responsive journey.
The new suspension also adopts e-damper technology, automatically adjusting the damper settings according to the driving conditions for a more controlled and comfortable onboard experience.
The new Patrol features a standard adaptive air suspension system, allowing for adjustable ride height, effortless on-road cruising, and off-road performance. In addition to improved aerodynamic efficiency, it facilitates easy passenger entry and exit and convenient loading and unloading.
Drivers have six drive modes: standard, sand, rock, mud, eco, and sport. The new Patrol also introduced a 4WD transfer mode interlock system, the first for Nissan. This system offers intuitive handling across various terrains, allowing drivers to switch between modes and tackle challenging landscapes.
Advanced chassis systems and electronic aids, including Vehicle Dynamic Control, Traction Control, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, underlie all these features.
The new Patrol is available for booking at Nissan’s partner network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the broader Middle East.
