A new battery electric vehicle (BEV) SUV from MG has been leaked online ahead of its Australian launch next year.
Called the MG S5 in China, it is reported to be similar to the MG4 hatchback and is expected to launch in Australia in 2025 with a reveal planned later in 2024.
Carsales.com.au says it understands the vehicle is no certainty to replace the MG ZS, currently Australia’s top-selling small SUV, nor be called the MG4 SUV.
Images and first details of the new small SUV were published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) which says the 2025 MG S5 has a rear axle-mounted 125kW electric motor, a 170km/h top speed, will be 4476mm long, 1849mm wide and 1621mm high with a 2730mm wheelbase, will sit on the Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) and could have 51kWh, 64kWh and possibly 77kWh batteries.
CarNewsChina says the EV has been listed for export.
