Lotus Emeya arrives sooner than expected

The 2025 Lotus Emeya electric sedan built in Wuhan, China, is now on sale in Australia six months earlier than expected.

It will be priced from A$189,990 plus on-road costs, matching the base version of its Eletre SUV sibling – months after its price was slashed by up to $49,000 amid slowing EV sales growth, Drive.com.au reports.

It says more expensive Emeya model grades are $20,000 cheaper than equivalent Eletres.

“Orders are now open – six months ahead of schedule, according to Lotus Cars Australia – with production now underway in China, and the first dealer demonstrators arriving this month.”

Powering all three Emeya variants are dual electric motors and a 112kWh battery pack, as part of an 800-volt electrical architecture said to enable 10 to 80% fast charges in 20 minutes on a 350kW DC charger, says Drive.com.au.

“The Emeya and Emeya S develop 450kW and 710Nm – for 0-100km/h in 4.15 seconds, and a 249km/h top speed – while the Emeya R develops 675kW and 985Nm, for 0-100km/h in 2.78 seconds and a 255km/h top speed.

“Claimed driving range in European WLTP testing is rated at between 498km and 600km for the base and S variants – depending on the wheels and other options selected – or 434-484km for the Emeya R.

“Dual-chamber adaptive air suspension is standard, while available features include a 12.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, KEF premium sound system, an augmented-reality head-up display, and Nappa leather seats.

“Buyers can choose between four- or five-seat layouts, 21-inch or 22-inch wheels, and a number of option packs on the Lotus website.”
