Lexus Australia has supplied an electric RZ 450e Sports Luxury SUV as the major prize for the Victoria Racing Club’s (VRC) annual Pin & Win charity fundraiser.
The Melbourne Cup Carnival set a new fundraising record of $548,000 last year and has raised more than $8 million for Australian charities via the sale of souvenir Lexus Melbourne Cup pins since 1995.
Valued at $148,194, including on-road costs, the RZ 450e Sports Luxury is the first dedicated luxury battery electric vehicle (BEV) from Lexus which continues to support the Melbourne Cup.
The RZ 450e Sports Luxury has many Lexus innovations, including a split panoramic roof that at the touch of a button switches the roof panels from clear to opaque to cut out UV light, infra-red knee warmers for front seat occupants, and Intelligent Parking Assist aiding the driver with autonomous parking manoeuvres when called upon.
In anticipating the needs of customers, Lexus also offers the major prize winner a complimentary home charger and installation as part of its Lexus Encore Platinum Electrified owner benefits.
“The Pin & Win promotion generates substantial fundraising for charities, and we are delighted that the VRC has selected Ronald McDonald House Charities Victoria and Tasmania as the recipient for 2024,” says Lexus Australia chief executive John Pappas.
“We hope that the addition of one of our finest Lexus vehicles to the prize pool will help raise record funds to help families needing much support.”
Pin & Win lapel pins will be available for purchase online, at Flemington Racecourse during race days and at a number of events throughout the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Pins are $10 for the Lexus Melbourne Cup pins and $15 for the diamante horseshoes.
The winner of the new Lexus RZ 450e Sports Luxury will be drawn at 5pm AEDT at Flemington on TAB Champions Stakes Day, November 9, 2024.
