Lexus Australia recalls NX vehicles for DC-DC converter issue

Lexus Australia has initiated a safety recall involving its NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).

There are 154 customer vehicles involved in the Australian market.

The plug-in hybrid system of the involved vehicles includes a DC-DC converter that reduces the voltage of the electricity from the Hybrid Vehicle (HV) battery in order to charge the vehicle’s 12V battery.

Contained within the DC-DC converter is a current rectifying module that is installed on the circuit board. Some of these modules may have been damaged during production and could short circuit.

This allows current from the 12V battery to continue to flow through the module and the module will generate heat. Under certain conditions, if excessive heat is generated, components within and outside the DC-DC converter could sustain thermal damage, increasing the risk of a vehicle fire.

For all involved vehicles, Lexus dealers will replace the DC-DC converter free of charge to vehicle owners.

To replace DC-DC converter will take approximately 75 minutes; however, depending on the Dealer’s work schedule, owners may be required to make the vehicle available for a longer period.

Customers are instructed not to use the AC Plug-In Charger until their Lexus dealer has replaced the DC-DC converter, however they may continue to drive their vehicle.

Lexus Australia will provide owners of involved vehicles with details of this safety recall campaign by SMS, email and/or mail to their last known address. To update contact details, call the Lexus Customer Assistance Centre on 1800 023 009 (Monday to Friday 8.00am to 6.00pm AEDT) or visit: www.lexus.com.au/owners/update-details.

Owners with additional questions or concerns are asked to please contact their local/preferred Lexus Dealer in the first instance or the Lexus Customer Assistance Centre on 1800 023 009 (Mon-Fri 8.00am-6.00pm AEDT). Please quote the 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
