Hertz Polestar 2 rentals arrive as brand commits to EV growth

Hertz’ local arm has announced that customers around Australia can now book a fully electric Polestar 2, as the brand moves to “advance electric vehicle adoption” around the country.

Over the next five years, Hertz is set to add 65,000 Polestar 2s to its global fleet.

Hertz APAC vice president Eoin Macneill says that the move will encourage more EV rookies to experience plug-in living before making a commitment to buy a vehicle outright.

“Hertz is committed to setting the standard for the future of mobility, electrification, and a digital-first customer experience, by growing our EV fleet while providing the best rental and recharging experience for leisure and business customers around the world,” says Macneill.

“As a country, we are becoming more environmentally conscious and at Hertz we’re prioritising providing our customers with the opportunity to travel more sustainably.

“We’re also providing Aussies with the ability to become acquainted with an EV without having to make the financial commitment to buy one.

“We believe by providing consumers with the ability to try before they buy for a selected amount of time, we will be able to support the confidence of consumers in their decision to switch to EVs.

“Consumers are wanting to create zero-emission experiences for themselves and we’re ready to meet that demand.”

Polestar Australia head Samantha Johnson underlined Macneill’s point, saying that for many customers it will be their first time driving an electric vehicle.

“Our partnership with Hertz provides an exciting opportunity for more Australians to experience the thrill of driving an EV while reducing their environmental impact,” says Johnson.

“For many customers, this will be their first experience in an electric vehicle and we’re proud to be able to share in their e-mobility journey.”

The Polestar 2 has been a popular seller in Australia, topping the EV sales list last month with 92 delivered to customers.
