Ford Australia has issued a recall for selected Focus and Fiesta variants over a potential fire risk stemming from an engine oil separator issue.
The recall concerns Focus and Fiesta models built between 2019 and 2022. The brand says the recall impacts a total of 691 vehicles.
“Due to a manufacturing issue, the right-hand engine oil separator may have been damaged prior to engine assembly and may result in an oil leak,” says the Ford Australia recall notice.
“An oil leak in the presence of an ignition source may cause a vehicle fire.
“If this was to occur, vehicle occupants may identify an oil smoke odour when driving or smoke emanating from the underhood area.
“A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders.”
The brand says owners of impacted vehicles will be notified of the recall in writing. It recommends that they take their vehicles to their preferred Ford Authorised Dealership for inspection and rectification.
