Technology that features in Ford’s GT supercar will soon make its way into the company’s more mainstream products.
For example, all-digital dashboard technology, similar to that in the supercar’s, is available in the 2018 Mustang.
And lessons learned from the GT’s production led to the innovative use of high-strength aluminium alloy in the Ford F-Series pickup trucks and the all-new Ford Expedition SUV.
That means significantly less weight and better capability, performance and fuel efficiency.
The super car also features Ford GT’s 3.5-litre EcoBoost engine – the company’s most powerful EcoBoost ever.
“All of the weight savings and engine advancements served a singular purpose – creating the fastest, most-efficient Ford GT ever,” Dave Pericak, global director, Ford Performance says.
“Once that was achieved, we reinvested some of those weight savings in truly innovative technology that made the car even faster and more fun to drive.”
