The first factory-built right-hand drive Corvette Z06 to reach the Australasian market has been revealed to GMSV head office staff in Port Melbourne.
The reveal of the new show car for Australasia took place only days following the 70th anniversary of the launch of the very first Corvette in New York on January 17, 1953.
The Corvette Z06 features an all-new naturally aspirated LT6 5.5L DOHC V-8 engine with an all-new flat-plane crankshaft design which allows the engine to rev to 8,600 rpm says GMSV.
It’s enhanced track performance ability is also matched with greater braking capability, with larger 14.6-inch-diameter (370mm) front and 15-inch diameter (380mm) rear Brembo rotors, compared with the Stingray. The Z06 has six-piston front callipers compared to four-piston callipers on the Stingray.
The largest wheels ever available on a production Corvette, 20-inch forged aluminium ‘Spider’ wheels at the front and 21-inch at the rear, provide surefooted grip to get power to the ground says the manufacturer.
Inside the cabin, it says a tech-laden driver focused cockpit relays all vehicle related information quickly and concisely.
“This new Z06 is indicative of what customers in Australia and New Zealand can expect from a MY24 Z06, as we will be offering 3LZ trim as standard,” GM Specialty Vehicles director Greg Rowe says.
“This includes a carbon fibre steering wheel and shift paddles, sueded microfibre on the upper interior trim, leather-wrapped interior door panels and instrument panel, as well as GT2 bucket seats with Napa leather upholstery and carbon fibre garnish.”
“Our new show car also features the Z07 performance package, which makes it even more eye-catching and enhances its performance prowess thanks to the addition of larger brakes with carbon ceramic rotors, carbon fibre aerodynamic elements, unique suspension tuning, ultra-performance tyres as well as optional carbon fibre wheels,” Rowe says.
