A classic 1995 Mini Rover has been converted into a roadworthy, fully electric vehicle.
The switch over retains all the charm of a classic Mini while delivering delight from the instantaneous acceleration, say Mini Australia and electric conversion company Fellten Australia after partnering for the change.
The red Mini’s powertrain showcases a 19kWh battery pack and 72kW Zonic Motor to deliver 175km range and is said to be the first classic Mini in Australia to get such a makeover after being completed this month.
It can sprint from zero to 100km/h in about eight seconds.
The process involved replacing the original combustion engine with a bolt-in electric drive pack and a new BMH front subframe, the result maintaining the same overall weight and weight distribution as an original Mini.
it also features regenerative braking, two driving modes – City and Sport – as well as a Type 2 charge port.
“Our iconic heritage is intrinsic to the character of the Mini brand, and this will continue to inspire and influence our direction even as we transition to offer a fully electric line-up by the beginning of 2030,” says Mini Australia general manager Matt Schmidt.
“We are proud to work with Fellten on a project that seamlessly preserves the beloved elements of our past while pointing towards our exciting, all-electric future.”

Fellten chief product officer Dave Budge says electromobility has never been so relevant, especially in Australia where EV adoption is still in its infancy and there’s an opportunity for people to consider sustainable transport.
The local project draws inspiration from the Mini Recharged program, which began with a one-off classic Mini Electric for the New York Auto Show, the reactions leading to a dedicated team at Plant Oxford developing a plan for creating a service offering for customers who own a classic Mini.
Fellten’s ‘Jaunt’ brand remanufactures and converts a limited number of vehicles.
