Cadillac will offer complimentary charging and five years of support to purchasers of the new electric Lyriq SUV in Australia.

Each vehicle will have one year of free public charging supplied as a standard package.

Then, depending on a customer’s lifestyle, the owner is invited to choose between an additional two years of free public charging or the complementary supply and standard installation of a standard 7.4kW home electric vehicle charger.

“Whether this is your first EV or your latest and greatest, we want to ensure the experience is a luxury one,” said GM Australia and New Zealand managing director Jess Bala.

“Cadillac will introduce charging partnerships that will enhance the EV experience and, at the same time, deliver a high-end charging solution that is befitting of a luxury, fully-electric SUV.

“Cadillac’s philosophy is that you shouldn’t just live with one of the marque’s electric vehicles but thrive with one.

“This charging partnership programme is intended to do just that, to make owning an electric Lyriq convenient and enjoyable,” said Bala.

The Cadillac Lyriq offers high-speed DC fast charging for use when away from home, enabling customers to add up to 128km of range in 10 minutes when charging at a public charge station.

Cadillac has announced that it will partner with established and respected charging suppliers in Australia to deliver these charging benefits for public and at-home solutions.

It will partner with Chargefox in Australia to provide Lyriq owners with public charging across their national network. Cadillac has selected JET Charge for home charging solutions to deliver and install a 7.4kW Autel unit to customers who choose this option at purchase.

Chargefox provides thousands of EV chargers nationwide. Owned by Australia’s mobility clubs, including NRMA, RACV, RACQ, RAA, RAC, and RACT, Chargefox makes EV charging simple, affordable, and accessible.

JET Charge was created in 2013 to supply and install electric vehicle chargers to support and accelerate the growth of EV sales in Australia.

EV battery

The Lyriq is powered by GM’s EV battery, a flexible and modular construction which delivers outstanding power, range, and performance.

GM’s EV battery is modular, allowing engineers to optimise battery energy storage and layout for EVs of all shapes and sizes.

A benefit is that each vehicle constructed on the platform is built with a specific configuration of battery modules and electric drive units to provide a one-of-a-kind performance tailored to each vehicle’s goals.

In the Cadillac Lyriq, the battery modules are arranged horizontally across the vehicle’s underbody within the battery pack. The battery pack was designed as an integral part of the vehicle structure to create a safer, higher-performing vehicle.

The horizontal arrangement of the battery modules facilitates LYRIQ’s low-slung, aggressive SUV profile and sporty performance attributes.

A Wireless Battery Management System communication module allows individual battery cells to coordinate while reducing the amount of wire required compared with traditional electric vehicles.

With less battery space devoted to wires, more cells can be included in the same amount of space, allowing for a more energy-dense, efficient battery that delivers an improved range.

The Common Battery Cells feature a state-of-the-art nickel-manganese-cobalt-aluminium (NCMA) chemistry designed to reduce the cobalt content in the batteries by more than 70%, a significant advancement in battery technology.

The Cadillac Lyriq features an eight-year/160,000km Electric Vehicle Propulsion Battery warranty.

Five years of support

The launch of the new Cadillac Lyriq heralds the arrival of the ‘Cadillac Confidence’ programme for owners in Australia, a benefits package which supports the premium experience expected of the latest model.

Cadillac Confidence is designed as a wrap-around service, in addition to complimentary and comprehensive charging solutions. It provides reassurance and support for all Lyriq owners.

Headlining the standard support for every new Lyriq is as follows:

•  Five-years unlimited kilometre factory vehicle warranty,

•  Five-years roadside assistance

•  Five-year scheduled servicing

The package is transferable from one owner to the following, provided the terms and conditions associated with the warranty are adhered by the first owner.

Cadillac has partnered with lender Plenti to offer tailored digital financing solutions for Lyriq and the upcoming EV range.
