Canberra is set to play host to Australia’s first electric vehicle summit on August 19.
The inaugural National Electric Vehicle Summit will be held at Hotel Realm in a week’s time, bringing together electric vehicle speakers from around the country and overseas.
The diverse speaker list includes numerous MPs, including minister for climate change and energy, Chris Bowen, NSW treasurer and energy minister Matt Kean, and member for Goldstein Zoe Daniel.
New Zealand transport minister Michael Wood is also among the speakers, crossing the ditch to offer insight into New Zealand’s EV adoption.

Wood isn’t the only speaker from overseas. He will be joined by the Rt Hon. Alok Sharma, member for parliament of the UK and president of COP26.
Representatives from several carmakers will also be speaking at the event. These speakers include Volkswagen Group Australia CEO Paul Sansom and Tesla chair Robyn Denholm.
Other business speakers include the managing director of Supercheap Auto, Benjamin Ward, and EV charger company Tritium chief executive Jane Hunter.
The summit comes off the back of the Labor Government’s climate bill passing lower house late last week. The bill includes an emissions reduction target of 43% by 2030 and net zero emissions by 2050.
