The revised and expanded 2022 Ioniq 5 range brings a new rear engine (RWD) Dynamiq and a top-spec Techniq (AWD) variants to Australia.

Standard equipment now includes augmented reality head-up display (AR HUD) and inside vehicle-to-load (V2L) for powering devices in the cabin, the new Ioniq 5 priced from $69,900 for the Dynamiq and from $77,500 for the twin engine Techniq.

The Dynamiq trim and the Techniq’s optional fixed glass “vision roof” with electric sunblind will not be available to order until later this year.

The revised Dynamiq extends its range to 481km (previously 451km) and includes a 160kWh rear motor delivering up to 350Nm torque and 19-inch alloy wheels, while the Techniq has a 225kWh dual motor (70kW front and 155kW rear) delivering 605Nm, 430km range (WLTP) and 20-inch alloy wheels.

The Techniq can get to 100km/h in 5.2 seconds.

Both come with ultra-fast 400-volt (50kW) and 800-volt (350kW) charging capability that allows a charge from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes – a five-minute charge providing 100km range.

A futuristic and spacious cabin is packed with comfort, convenience and SmartSense safety technology, wrapped in an aerodynamic retro-inspired exterior.

“Our flagship Ioniq 5 EV continues to offer an attractive zero-emission battery-electric experience that’s made even more compelling with additional features and a choice of variants,” says Hyundai Motor Company Australia chief executive Ted Lee.

Features also include a smart power tailgate, heated front seats, 10-way power seats – front (Including two-way lumbar), outside V2L, and the Techniq adds front premium relaxation seats (12-way adjust), heated and two-way power rear seats, and rear window sunshades.

The Ioniq 5 is powered by a 653-volt, 72.6kWh lithium-ion polymer battery beneath a flat floorpan.

The 2022 Ioniq 5’s onboard AC charger can recharge the high-voltage battery in around six hours when connected to a charging station or wall-box of equal or higher capacity.

Hyundai iCare provides expert service and support is provided through Hyundai’s Lifetime Service Plan, Roadside Support Plan and Sat Nav Update Plan, the latter two both available up to 10 years. Plus there’s a suite of other owner benefits such as access to myHyundai, Hyundai’s five year unlimited km vehicle warranty and eight-year 160,000km high-voltage battery warranty.
