Suzuki Australia has announced it will be recalling 18,144 vehicles regarding a potential issue that can impact the vacuum assist brake booster.
The recall impacts five different models; the Swift, Swift Sport, Baleno, Vitara, and S-Cross.
It’s understood the recall spans selected models built between 2016 and 2022. The full list of affected VINs can by read by clicking here.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, the valve between the engine and the vacuum assist brake booster may swell under certain conditions,” says Suzuki in its recall notice.
“As a result, an increased brake pedal effort may be required to achieve the expected stopping distance. The brake system remains functional.
“If the braking system does not operate as intended, it could increase the risk of a crash resulting in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”
The Japanese carmaker is in the process of alerting customers with impacted vehicles.
“Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Suzuki Australia when parts become available and asked to make an appointment to have the work carried out, free of charge,” Suzuki adds.
