Renault goes for value with new Koleos Black Edition

Renault has announced a new addition to its popular Koleos line-up, in the form of the Koleos Black Edition.

Positioned between the nameplate’s Zen and Intens 4×2 grades, the Black Edition is based on the Zen for specification. This means it gets parking sensors, satellite navigation, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, an 8.7-inch portrait touchscreen, and more.

The Black Edition trim level adds 19-inch dark grey wheels and gloss black exterior highlights (namely roof rails, door mirrors, and sidesteps).

‘Limited’ badging, French flags on the B-pillars, and black faux leather with yellow stitching complete the aesthetic changes. It also gets an electric hands-free tailgate.

It comes with the same powertrain as featured in other Koleos models; a 2.5-litre inline four producing 126kW of power and 226Nm of torque.

Just 400 Koleos Black Editions are set to be produced, priced at $40,090 or $42,000 drive away. By comparison the Zen 4×2 is priced at $37,390 before on-road costs, and the Intens is $43,890.

“The Koleos Black Edition marks a design highlight in the wider range,’” says Glen Sealey, general manager of Renault Australia.

“While SUVs are, by far, the most popular vehicle choice for families, that doesn’t mean you have to leave style out of the buying process. We feel the Black Edition allows for style and practicality in one compelling package.”

The Black Edition’s arrival isn’t the only change Renault Australia is making to the Koleos line-up.

The French manufacturer’s local arm has also made the optional Easy Life Package available for the Zen variant. If ticked, this pack adds a hands-free powered tailgate and an 8.7-inch portrait touchscreen.
