Polestar has announced a partnership with award-winning environmentalist and Australian COP27 representative Sam Elsom.
He is the chief executive and co-founder of Sea Forest, an Australian biotechnology company fighting climate change through the cultivation of the red seaweed Asparagopsis, pioneering its use as a livestock feed supplement.
Elsom says his work with Sea Forest is only the latest step in a 15-year journey in sustainability, which included founding one of Australia’s first sustainable apparel businesses, measuring social and environmental impact across supply chains, as well as implementing a satellite factory in India to support poor communities with income, training, clean water and education.
Polestar Australia says Elsom’s vision of a cleaner and more sustainable tomorrow perfectly complements its own pioneering philosophy and ambition around climate neutrality.
“With a goal to produce the world’s first carbon-neutral car by 2030, we are deeply aligned and inspired by Sam’s mission at Sea Forest,” Head of Polestar Australia Samantha Johnson says.
“Sustainability drives everything we do at Polestar, and Sam shares our vision, and passion, for a more sustainable future — one that can be achieved through ingenuity, creativity and through challenging the status quo,” she says.
“Polestar’s vision of improving our world through sustainability and circularity are values held closely by myself and the team at Sea Forest,” Elsom says.
“Creating a sustainable and equitable future is my life’s work. Together with Polestar, I’m hopeful we will be able to continue to push forward in creating a lasting difference for the planet,” he says.
