Porsche is adding the Taycan Turbo GT and the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach track package to its electric sports sedan line-up.

The package is built for the track and dispenses with rear seats for an improved power-to-weight ratio.

The first Taycan Turbo GT models are expected in Australia from mid-2024, priced from $416,600.

Highlights include zero to 100km/h in 2.2 seconds and a 305km/h top speed with the Weissach package for the track, 10-second “Attack Mode” providing a short 120kW boost of additional power, up to 815kW peak power with “Launch Control”, about 75kg lighter than the Taycan Turbo S, available with two or four seats and standard “Porsche Active Ride” suspension.

Of lightweight construction and with aerodynamics measures, the Taycan GT sports cars raise the bar in driving dynamics.

A more powerful and efficient pulse inverter that uses silicon carbide as the semiconductor material is used on the rear axle.

The Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package is the fastest electric series-production car at the Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca in California recording 1:27.87minutes with Porsche development driver Lars Kern behind the wheel.

Kern also put a pre-production version of this same new model through its paces at the Nürburgring, setting a new class record in posting a 7:07.55-minute lap time on the Nordschleife.

This official lap time is 26 seconds faster than Kern recorded for his last record lap in a Taycan Turbo S sport sedan with the performance package in August 2022.

“The two records in Laguna Seca and on the Nordschleife show what great track potential there is in the Taycan,” says Porsche model line vice president Kevin Giek.

“The overall package of accelerating and braking, cornering grip, aerodynamics, stability and fine-tuning has to be right,” he says.

“In the Taycan Turbo GT and the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package in particular, our engineers have achieved this in absolutely stunning fashion.”

“Attack Mode” is similar to the 99X racing cars Porsche uses in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship and is activated by a steering wheel paddle.

Porsche says it has recently extensively upgraded the Taycan model line and generally increased the overall system power, including an enhanced powertrain with a new rear-axle motor.

Both Taycan Turbo GT cars have 580kW power – increased to 760kW of over boost or up to 815kW for two seconds.

Up to 1340Nm torque is provided in both versions.

Special performance summer tyres are mounted on 21-inch lightweight forged wheels.

The Taycan Turbo GT comes standard with lightweight ceramic brakes and spoilers front and rear, and matrix LED headlights.

Six exterior colours are available, including the new paint options of Pale Blue Metallic and Purple Sky Metallic reserved exclusively for the Taycan Turbo GT for one year.

Standard full bucket seats are provided.
