E-scooter operator Neuron Mobility is launching its first “Global Hackathon” competition for a $3000 top prize for students at universities and colleges in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Singapore and the United Kingdom.
Students will get access to Neuron’s anonymised trip data and will be challenged to develop an algorithm and an operational plan to optimise rental e-scooter and e-bike services in a fictional city.
Contestants will be judged on operational efficiency, market growth and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Prizes will be awarded to the top 14 teams of up to four students, and individuals from the top team will have the chance to kickstart their careers by becoming an intern in Neuron’s Data team.
The Global Hackathon 2022 starts on October 15 and competing students have a fortnight to complete the challenge.
“It’s a great opportunity for students to put their data analysis skills to the test by tackling real-life scenarios using anonymised city data,” says Neuron Mobility chief technology officer Harry Yu.
