Subaru Australia has issued a recall concerning six different models in its line-up regarding a potential braking issue.
The recall impacts selected Liberty, Outback, Levorg, WRX, Impreza, and XV variants from different years between 2015 and 2018.
It impacts Liberty models from 2015 to 2018, Outback models from 2015 to 2018, Levorg models from 2015 to 2018, WRX models from 2015-2018, Impreza models from 2017 to 2019, and XV models from 2017 to 2018.
Overall, 78,617 vehicles have been impacted by the recall.
The brake issue relates to the electric park brake adaptor cord connector. Subaru says that the connector “may not operate as intended” and could result in vehicles “moving or rolling away whilst the vehicle is engaged in the park position”.
“If the vehicle moves from its parked position while unattended, it may increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users,” says the recall notice.
Subaru says that affected owners can book in their vehicles for free repairs at any Subaru service centre around the country, adding that it’s in the process of contacting affected owners in writing.
