Mercedes-Benz Australia Pacific is recalling more than 4000 MY 2020 CLA, A, and GLB Class vehicles due to a potential fire risk.
The company says due to a manufacturing defect the fuel feed hose in these vehicles may become chafed and cause a fuel leak in the engine compartment.
It is also recalling more than 680 CLS, GT, and E Class vehicles produced from 2018 to 2022, saying that due to a manufacturing defect the transmission wiring harness may be damaged. The damage can allow moisture into the wiring harness, which may cause a short circuit resulting in a vehicle fire.
Mercedes-Benz Vans is recalling 57 MY21 Sprinter vans and 33 MY 21 Marco Polo vans due to a potential fire risk caused by a manufacturing issue.
In the Marco Polo vehicles, the wiring harness may be damaged and could result in function failures, or a short circuit. In the Sprinter vehicles, the alternator wiring and the electric steering wiring may not be installed correctly. The wiring harness could be damaged due to being overloaded.
The company says that owners of affected vehicles can contact their nearest authorised Mercedes-Benz dealership to have rectifications carried out as soon as possible free of charge.
