Lotus will build its new Eletre electric “Hyper-SUV” at a new Wuhan facility in China starting later this year, with reserve sales already offered now across global markets.
First customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2023, starting in China, the United Kingdom and Europe.
It’s the first of three new Lotus lifestyle EVs planned during the next four years.
British designed, the Lotus Eletre has a claimed targeted driving range of about 600km, produces at least 447kW of power, has a 350kW charge time of 20 minutes for 400km of driving, accepts 22kW AC charging, and can get from zero to 100km/h in under three seconds.
The Eletre is 4WD and has more than 100kWh battery capacity which can get the SUV to an estimated 260km/h top speed.
It uses Lidar technology to support intelligent driving, carbon fibre and aluminium for weight reduction, man-made textiles and sustainable lightweight wool blends for the interior, and Lotus design ‘porosity’ which means air flows through the vehicle for improved aerodynamics, speed, range and overall efficiency.
Optional in all markets are 23-inch wheels and ceramic brakes, while a panoramic glass sunroof is optional in markets outside China.
“The Eletre, our Hyper-SUV, is for those who dare to look beyond the conventional and marks a turning point for our business and brand,” says Lotus Group chief executive Qingfeng Feng.
