Lexus has its LBX range for sale in Australia.

Pricing was earlier revealed by AutoTalk Australia.

Offered in two model grades, the LBX is the smallest model in the Lexus range and the luxury lifestyle brand’s first B-segment SUV.

“The first-ever LBX breaks new ground for Lexus,” says Lexus Australia chief executive John Pappas.

“With LBX, our designers have created a modern and compact urban SUV that delivers big on Lexus fundamentals of quality and craftsmanship, while offering responsive performance and great dynamics.

“LBX is also in keeping with our Lexus Electrified strategy of offering the latest in hybrid technology with an advanced, fuel-efficient powertrain.”

All LBX grades employ the same hybrid-electric powertrain teaming a 1.5-litre three-cylinder M15A-FXE petrol engine with an electric motor generator and nickel-metal hydride battery.

Peak power output for the petrol engine is rated at 67kW at 5500rpm and 120Nm torque between 3800-4800rpm, mated to a continuously variable transmission.

The petrol engine is paired with a hybrid transaxle on the front axle including a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 69kW/185Nm, powered by a compact nickel-metal hydride battery underneath the rear seat.

Peak combined output for the three-cylinder hybrid powertrain is rated at 100kW, a combined fuel consumption of 3.8 litres per 100km on the combined cycle and average CO2 emissions of 85 grams per km.

Sports Luxury grade is also offered with an AWD powertrain which adds an induction asynchronous electric motor on the rear axle, producing 4.7kW/52Nm while retaining the 2WD’s 100kW peak power output.

The LBX comes standard with a five-year/unlimited kilometre Lexus Warranty Experience.

Customers can choose from eight different exterior colours to pair with the LBX’s two-tone black roof.
