Kia has confirmed a recall for Cerato models from the 2022 model year, with a total of 1694 vehicles affected.
The recall is not a mechanical one. Instead it concerns the vehicle jack.
According to the recall notice, some models did not come with a safety label attached to their jack. This, Kia says, could cause improper use of the jack and potentially injury.
“The label with the required safety information and instructions may not have been affixed to the vehicle jack as required. This may result in inappropriate use of the vehicle jack,” says the recall notice.
“If the vehicle jack is used inappropriately, the raised vehicle may fall.
“This would increase the risk of serious injury or death to anyone under or near the vehicle. The supplied jack may not be compliant with the mandatory standard for vehicle jacks.
“Owners can contact their local Kia dealership to schedule an appointment to have their Vehicle Jack inspected for the correct label, free of charge.”
