Hyundai has unveiled the latest iteration of its largest SUV, the Palisade, at the New York Auto Show.
The newly facelifted Palisade is set to arrive locally in the third quarter of 2002, Hyundai Australia says it will announced the finalised model line-up and pricing closer to launch.
Along with several styling tweaks inside and out, the newly evolved Palisade also receives a few tech improvements.
The biggest visual change is the introduction of a new grille. It’s wider, taller, and more bold, using a repeated pattern similar to that on the recently updated Tucson. Speaking of bold, the model also gets new 20-inch wheels.
The headlights have been slightly revised, although they retain the separated look of the outgoing model. Around the back, meanwhile, the Palisade gains a new rear bumper.
It isn’t just the grille that’s gotten bigger. Inside, the Palisade gets a larger 12-inch touchscreen with 720p resolution. The layout of the dashboard is otherwise mostly unchanged, barring the new steering wheel and the introduction of a slim climate vent that spans almost the full width of the car.
Other new features include a digital rear-view mirror that can show a camera feed from the back of the car, a comfortable new ‘Ergo’ driver’s seat, heated seats in the third row, ventilated seats in the second row, angle-adjustable armrests, and a tow mode.
Some models will even include a Wi-Fi hot spot, enabling owners to unlock and turn on their cars via certain phones, or with an Apple Watch.
Hyundai has also added more tech to the Palisade’s list of safety equipment. The burly seven seater now gets nine airbags, enhanced forward collision avoidance, highway driving assist, and remote start parking assist.
What hasn’t changed is the Palisade’s engine. It still utilises a 3.8-litre Atkinson cycle V6 making 217kW of power and 355Nm of torque, paired to an 8-speed automatic. It can be had in either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.
Hyundai Australia also says that Bluelink connected car services will debut locally with the new Palisade, before rolling out across the Hyundai model range. Features and specification for the Australian Bluelink services will also be confirmed closer to launch.
