GWM has confirmed it will launch the body-on-frame Tank 500 seven-seat SUV into the Australian market which will compete with the likes of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Toyota Fortuner, Ford Everest, and Isuzu MU-X.

Deliveries of the Tank 500 which is available in Lux ($66,490 driveaway) and Ultra (price TBC) grades are expected to commence in the second quarter of 2024.

GWM says the three key selling points of the Tank 500 are its ability to seat up to seven people, its hybrid powertrain, and its professional off-road capability.

It says the Tank 500 offers a new benchmark in comfort and convenience in a sub-$75,000 large SUV.
