AFR journalist Jessica Sier reports that dealers were outraged at the discovery that Deloitte consultants were working on their business accounts, while also working with the parent company on its plan to switch from the franchise model to the agency model.
The former owner of West Orange Motors, the longest continually operation Mercedes-Benz dealership in Australia, Bob Craig told the AFR that Deloitte’s behaviour was extremely troubling.
“The hypocrisy of this situation is palpable: on the one hand dealers paid large sums over many years for a range of services from Deloitte,” Craig says. “On the other hand, allegations have now been raised in Federal Court that Deloitte was, in fact, collaborating with Mercedes-Benz to advance Stuttgart’s agenda.”
