Ford is working through a software update on 307 Puma vehicles in Australia and 411 in New Zealand affected by a recall.
The Puma vehicles involved were built from May 2, 2023, to July 25, 2023, and their restraint control module (RCM) was loaded with an incorrect configuration, a Ford spokesperson explains.
This could lead to airbags not performing as intended.
The spokesperson says affected vehicles require a software update which Ford is working through now and that all will be rectified before being delivered to customers, or those customers who have already received their Puma will be notified directly by Ford.
An Australian government recall notice says that as a result of the incorrect RCM configuration “if an incorrect replacement part is installed in the system, warnings will not be displayed and the seatbelt pretensioners and airbags may not perform as intended in the event of an accident”.
