The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) welcomes the additional $5.2 million investment in the Western Australian Government’s Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) Rebate Scheme.
The FCAI says extending this scheme is critical to future low emissions and supporting the uptake of electric vehicles (EVs) in Australia.
“The ZEV Rebate Scheme, coupled with Western Australia’s ongoing investment in electric vehicle infrastructure, represents significant strides in our collective effort to reduce carbon emissions in the transport sector,” says the FCAI.

“These initiatives not only promote the adoption of EVs but also provide Western Australians with a sense of security and ease when embracing this new technology, thereby contributing to a greener future.
“We look forward to ongoing collaboration with the government to ensure that the automotive industry continues to play a vital role in achieving Australia’s pathway towards net zero. The FCAI is committed to supporting policies that encourage the growth of the EV market towards a low-emissions technology future,” it says
The scheme provides a $3500 rebate for people who purchase an eligible vehicle and apply to the Department of Transport. As of March 31, 2024, more than 5900 rebate applications have been paid to EV owners.
Applications close on May 10, 2025. For more information, visit: https://www.transport.wa.gov.au/projects/zero-emission-vehicle-zev-rebate.asp
