More kerbside EV chargers are coming from EVX Australia.
It partnered with Ausgrid to unveil the first dual EVX Polecharger in Newcastle in December last year.
Designed in Australia for Australia. the EVX Polecharger has been developed and adapted to be user friendly, robust and reliable, with maximum lifespan and minimal visual impact, says EVX.
The EVX Polecharger is suitable for mass rollout, particularly in residential areas in need of parallel on-street parking charging options, with Ausgrid planning to install up to 30,000 pole-mounted EV chargers by 2029, the company adds.
It’s working closely with some local councils to complete comprehensive site surveys and location planning for its charging network, aimed at bringing more suitable EV charging points closer to where people live, work, and play in local communities across the country in coming months.
“EV ownership might be on the rise, but many communities are at risk of being excluded because of limited access to charging infrastructure,” says EVX chief executive Andrew Forster.
“We hope that other councils take note of how they can help EV drivers charge their vehicles more conveniently while doing their bit towards the goal of decarbonising the planet.”
EVX’s partnership with United Kingdom-based Connected Kerb allows it to install a kerbside EV charging network ahead of the inevitable uptake of EVs in Australia. .
Connected Kerb has a two-part solution to charging infrastructure comprising a power and data pack sunk beneath the pavement and housed in a protective, low profile above-ground charge point socket, which has been key to EV charging across the UK and US.
With more than 300 charge points currently in the UK, Connected Kerb has contracts for more than 200,000 charging stations to be installed by 2030.
