
More than 1400 EVs – including cars, e-motorcycles and e-buses – will transport attendees at the Group of 20 (G20) summit in Bali on November 15 and 16.
Indonesia has prepared the EV fleet for the gathering of the world’s top 20 economies as it works to establish its own EV industry and transition to clean energy.
EVs are set to be the only mode of transportation during the summit, with the host expected to have 962 electric cars, 454 electric motorcycles, and 36 electric buses to shuttle delegates, journalists, and security personnel in and around the main venues, Arab News reports.
Australian prime minister Anthony Albanese is among those expected to attend.
Indonesia announced in October a new target to cut emissions levels by 31.89%, aiming for net zero emissions by 2060 and its government has a goal of two million EVs on its roads by 2025.
The country is one of the world’s largest nickel miners and earlier signed a deal to supply Tesla with US$5 billion worth of nickel products for EV batteries during the next five years.
